HEAT leaders rip Biden for record high gas prices

Pandemic, price war propel House Republican energy team - E&E News

Oklahoma congressman Markwayne Mullin and other Republican leaders of the House Energy Action Team or HEAT unloaded more criticism on President Biden this week after U.S. gasoline prices hit an all-time high of $4.17 a gallon.

House Republican Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana was joined by HEAT co-chairs, Rep. Mullin and South Carolina Rep. Jeff Duncan in blaming Biden and his anti-American energy policies for the record prices.

“President Biden must immediately reverse his war on American energy and make our country energy secure again,” stated the three on the day Biden announced a U.S. ban on Russian oil purchases.

They pointed out that the week Biden was inaugurated, the average price for a gallon of gasoline was $2.39. The cost this week hit $4.17, a 74% increase.

“Don’t let Washington Democrats try to fool you: The Biden Administration ceded American energy independence to foreign enemies like Russia, causing gas prices to skyrocket for all Americans, and helping finance Vladimir Putin’s barbaric invasion of Ukraine.

Last week, HEAT members sent a letter to President Biden laying out actions he could take immediately to reverse Russia’s leverage on Europe and the U.S.

“With the right leadership, we can lower energy prices for American families, while replacing U.S. imports of Russian petroleum products with our own resources, and provide our allies with the alternatives they need to also break free from Russian oil.”
