To help the poor in Oklahoma, Oklahoma Gas & Electric has donated 1.7 million LED light bulbs to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.
The utility said in its most recent “Currents” publication that goes out with electric bills that it recently donated 208,000 energy-efficient LED bulbs to the food bank. It worked with its energy efficiency partner CLEAResult.
The bulbs are distributed by the Regional Food Bank partners within OG&E’s service area to help households living with food insecurity reduce their energy costs.
The bulbs can last up to 25 times longer than incandescent bulbs. OG&E stated that by providing the LEDs, it not only helps recipients save on replacement costs but also lowers household expenses.
The utility stated that since 2015, it has donated more than 1.7 million bulbs to the food bank and its employees have donated more than 1,000 hours volunteering at the Regional Food Bank’s Volunteer Center.
