Crude oil prices jumped in Tuesday’s trading following the Martin Luther King holiday on Monday, largely due to growing concerns about the tense situation between Ukraine and Russia. But it didn’t carry over to trading of Oklahoma energy stocks.
West Texas Intermediate crude for February delivery rose $1.61 to $85.43 a barrel in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for March delivery went up $1.03 to $87.51 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
February natural gas rose 2 cents to $4.28 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Tuesday wasn’t a good day for trading of Oklahoma energy stocks as only four firms recorded gains for the day, including a 1% increase for Williams Cos., the largest of any gain for the day. Losses of at least 5% were recorded by SandRidge Energy, Cypress Environmental, Laredo and Ovintiv.
