Sparked by a decline in U.S. crude supplies along with increased tensions between Russia and Ukraine, crude oil prices rebounded to 3-week highs in Thursday’s trading. But it didn’t mean Oklahoma energy stocks did the same.
Western Texas Intermediate crude for January delivery rose 2.13% or $1.51 to $72.38 a barrel in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for February delivery increased $1.14 and closed at $75.02 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
January natural gas slipped 3 cents or nearly 1% to finish the day at $3.77 per 1,000 cubic feet.
A few Oklahoma energy stocks recorded gains on Thursday including Cypress Environmental with a 4% increase but most others had losses. LSB Industries and Laredo Petroleum were down 3% while Mammoth Energy dropped 4%.
