General Electric announced it is splitting into three public companies in a move to simplify its business, cut debt and perhaps get new life into a struggling share price.
The company was known for its 2016 opening of the GE Global Research Center in Oklahoma City. Two years later after GE acquired Baker Hughes Co., the firm renamed the operation the BHGE Energy Innovation Center of North America. Then in July of 2020, Baker Hughes donated the center to Oklahoma State University which took over management and operations.
One thing is known for sure—the split marks the end of the 129-year old conglomerate that was once the most valuable U.S. corporation reported Reuters.
