In response to weak progress in restoration of oil output following Hurricane Ida, crude oil prices managed about a 1% increase in Wednesday’s trading. But it didn’t do much to cause gains for Oklahoma energy stocks.
West Texas Intermediate crude managed a 95 cent increase or 1.4% gain to $69.30 a barrel.
Global benchmark Brent crude rose 91 cents or 1.3% to finish the day at $72.60 in ICE Futures Europe.
It’s been nine days since Hurricane Ida smashed into the Gulf Coast states and forced shutdowns of Gulf drilling and refinery operations. Companies are challenged as they attempt to renew their operations. An estimated 77% of the U.S. Gulf production was offline as of Tuesday or about 1.4 million barrels a day.
Oklahoma energy stocks for the most part reported losses for the day. Cypress Environmental Partners had a nearly 7% fall but Cimarex Energy rose about 4%.
