Oklahoma Gas and Electric is advising its customers of the firm’s move to seek authority for a rate hike to pay for nearly $875 million in costs from the February winter storm that resulted in rolling blackouts across Oklahoma.

Advisories are being sent in the mail with utility bills in which OGE tells its customers that the Oklahoma Corporation Commission is scheduled to begin hearings on OGE’s request. The hearing as the advisory stated, will be to determine whether OGE’s “fuel, purchased power, and related costs of approximately $875 million resulting from the February 2021 winter storm were prudently incurred.”
