Tribes demand input in government’s oil and gas leasing review

Native American leaders in northwest New Mexico say the U.S. Interior Department should include them in the agency’s review of its mineral leasing program.

Pueblo leaders and archaeologists are seeking help in protecting the Chaco Canyon in the state. They also say the government should consult tribes as the Interior Department moves ahead with its review.
