Plenty of summertime heat for outdoor workers

It’s not a good week to be working on a drilling rig in Oklahoma nor a line repairman. Just take a look at the kind of high temperatures we’re expecting.

Already the heat indexes have been in the 105 to 106 range as a result of temperatures well into the 90s along with high humidity.

Gary McManus, the State Climatologist with the Oklahoma Mesonet sums it up best in the expected temperatures this weekend.

“Saturday will be hot hot HOT in advance of a cold front that will eventually cool us down early next week, but the heat is scheduled to return pretty quickly,” he wrote in Tuesday’s weather update.
The hot weather apparently will be with us for the early part of August. Take a look at the weather map.
“We will continue in a full summertime pattern with highs in
the mid-90s to 100s, and heat index values even higher than that,” added McManus.
