I-40 bridge repairs might last through July

Transportation officials admit the reopening of the I-40 bridge over the Mississippi River from Arkansas to Tennessee might not occur until perhaps the end of July.

Word of the repairs was revealed during U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg’s recent visit to the bridge where a large crack was found in a support beam in early May.

I-40 traffic, much of what comes from Oklahoma has been forced to take a detour at the site. Why so long in the repairs?

Materials to repair the massive bridge are not expected to arrive until later this month reported the Commercial Appeal in Memphis.
