While the energy industry in Oklahoma slowly recovers from the pandemic, the food industry in the state also faces major challenges.

Word came this week that more than 100 employees of  Sodexo Inc. will lose their jobs this month at Langston University. The Oklahoma Office of Workforce Development was notified that 108 employees are being laid off at the University but the firm still has contracts at St. Anthony Hospital, OU Medical Center and the Oklahoma County Senior Nutrition Program in Oklahoma City.

A Sodexo warn notice stated, “Due to the unforeseeable business circumstance of Langston University ending our contract
effective June 30, 2021, we are not able to provide the standard sixty-day notice.”
