Texas could follow Oklahoma in EV tax

Texas lawmakers want to make sure Electric Vehicle owners pay their fair share of highway improvements in the state. A bill is working its way through the legislature to create a special fee on EVs.

A bill by House Transportation Committee chairman Terry Canales would impose a $100 yearly fee on EVs according to KSAT.

Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt signed a similar measure into law last week, one that levies a 3-cent tax per kilowatt hour to charge an EV. There would be no tax for EVs charged at home.
