Oklahoma State Legislators Adjourn on Thursday

Thursday marked the final day for state lawmakers as both the Oklahoma House and Senate adjourned after a full legislative session. Some energy-related highlights from the 58th Session include:

House Bill 2029 (Rep. Terry O’Donnell, R-Catoosa/Sen. Zack Taylor, R-Seminole)

Modifies the definition of division order when related to oil and gas. This measure passed the House by a vote of 93-3 and the Senate by a vote of 46-0. HB 2029 was signed by Governor Stitt on May 24, 2021 and became effective immediately.

Senate Bill 1059 (Sens. Hall and Thompson/Reps. Wallace and Hilbert)

Extends the Corporation Commission Plugging Fund termination date from July 1, 2021 to July 1, 2026. It extends the termination date for the excise tax that provides money for the fund from July 1, 2021 to July 1, 2026. The measure passed the Senate by a vote of 43-3 and the House by a vote of 85-0. SB 1059 was signed by Governor Stitt on May 21, 2021 and becomes effective on July 1, 2021.

ODOT received a $200 million investment to accelerate its eight-year plan to improve rural two-lane roads with deficient shoulders along with an increase of nearly $17 million in appropriations to the State Transportation Fund for Maintenance and Operations.

Legislators also approved an increase of $20 million appropriated towards the County Improvement for Roads and Bridges (CIRB) infrastructure project.
