Oklahoma legislators to explore impact of February storms

The Oklahoma legislature plants joint House and Senate hearings to explore the utility cost issues that arose from the February winter storm that smashed Oklahoma, Texas and other Midwestern states.

The House and Senate announced the hearings on Tuesday. Committee members will hear from a number of industry stakeholders regarding various topics concerning the winter storm utility issues. The announcement stated that the goal of the hearings will be to learn what exactly happened and how it can be prevented in the future.

The planned meetings will take place May 14, 21 and 28 at 9 a.m. in Room 230 of the Oklahoma State Capitol. Legislators expected to attend include:

  • Rep. Garry Mize, R-Guthrie
  • Rep. Mike Dobrinski, R-Okeene
  • Rep. Brad Boles, R-Marlow
  • Rep. Mark Lepak, R-Claremore
  • Rep. Kevin McDugle, R-Wagoner
  • Rep. Monroe Nichols, D-Tulsa
  • Sen. James Leewright, R-Bristow
  • Sen. Zack Taylor, R-Seminole
  • Sen. John Michael Montgomery, R-Lawton
  • Sen. Mark Allen, R-Spiro
  • Sen. Mary Boren, D-Norman

Meeting time and location are subject to change dependent upon House and Senate session schedules.
