Inhofe votes against White House environmental nominee

The U.S. Senate on Wednesday confirmed the nomination of Brenda Mallory to run the White House Council on Environmental Quality but did so without the support of Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe.

In a statement following the 53-45 vote, the Senator said Mallory was chosen to carry out what he called the “far-left agenda of the Biden administration.

He explained the Council on Environmental Quality might not be as well-known as the EPAS but it is responsible for almost all significant environmental reviews, including those for pipelines and highways.

“Under the Biden administration, they will work to reverse the progress we have made over the past four years bringing jobs back to Oklahoma, cutting harmful, costly regulations and conducting timely environmental reviews,” stated Inhofe.

Fellow Oklahoma Sen. James Lankford also voted against Mallory’s confirmation.

Her nomination advanced out of Senate Environment and Public Works Committee on an 11-9 vote, with Sen. Lindsey Graham voting with the panel’s Democrats.
