Denver to restrict use of natural gas for new homes and buildings

By law, the city of Denver cannot ban natural gas hookups from future homes and buildings, but the city is taking steps to make it more difficult to use gas.

Denver’s Office of Climate Action, Sustainability and Resiliency released a plan this week calling for new homes and buildings to be mostly electrified by 2027 with renewable power sources—solar and wind.

The Denverite reported it means the new homes and buildings will have fewer options for natural gas.
