What will post Christmas trading bring for oil and gas?

 

Oil traders wait to see what Monday’s sessions might bring after crude prices closed slightly higher on Christmas Eve and were closed in the U.S. over the weekend.

West Texas Intermediate crude for February delivery closed up 11 cents or 0.2% at $48.23 a barrel in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The Thursday close followed a 2.3% gain on Wednesday. However, WTI lost 2.1% for the week.

Global benchmark Brent crude settled up 9 cents or 0.2% at $51.29 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe. The slight increase followed a 2.2% gain on Wednesday. Still, Brent also recorded a decline of 1.9% for the week.

The increased crude prices didn’t translate into many Oklahoma energy stocks seeing improvements.

Alliance Resource Partners, L.P. dropped 12 cents to close at $4.51 for a loss of nearly 3%. Blueknight Energy Partners LP fell 4.13% after shares closed down 9 cents at $2.09. Chesapeake Energy Corporation managed a 3 cent increase to $1.98 for a 1.54% gain.

 

Cypress Environmental Partners LP dropped 10 cents to $2.38 for a decline of more than 4%. Devon Energy Corp suffered a 2.11% decline as stocks closed down 33 cents at $15.33. Enable Midstream Partners LP slipped 3 cents to $5.36 for a drop of less than 1%.

 

Gulfport Energy Corporation was down to 5 cents a share for a decline of 0.39%. Helmerich & Payne, Inc. fell 1.26% as stocks closed down 31 cents at $24.20. LSB Industries, Inc. closed down 5 cents at $2.77 for a 1.77% drop.
Laredo Petroleum Inc closed at $20.71 after a $1.20 drop or more than 5%. Magellan Midstream Partners, L.P. finished down 80 cents at $42.78 for a decline of 1.84%. Mammoth Energy Services Inc settled down 58 cents at $4.61 for a big loss of 11.18%.
Matrix Service Co closed up 32 cents at $11.66 or a gain of about 3%. NGL Energy Partners LP finished up 8 cents for a 3.01% gain to $2.74. OGE Energy Corp. settled up 22 cents for a nearly 1% gain to $31.15.
ONE Gas Inc rose 55 cents for a nearly 1% gain to $76.55. ONEOK, Inc. was unchanged at $38.80. Ovintiv Inc closed down 20 cents at $14.57 for a 1.35% decline.
PHX Minerals Inc finished a penny higher at $2.32. SandRidge Energy lost 8 cents and settled at $3.16 for a drop of 2.47%.
WPX Energy Inc suffered a 15 cent loss to $7.91, a nearly 2% decline. Williams Companies Inc closed down one cent at $20.74.
