Crude oil futures climb again

 

Crude oil prices hit their highest levels since February on Thursday as West Texas Intermediate crude, the U.S. benchmark rose 1.1%.

WTI finished at $48.36 a barrel with a 54 cent gain for January delivery in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Global benchmark Brent crude reached its highest level since early March with a 42-cent increase to settle at $51.50 a barrel for February delivery in trading on ICE Futures Europe.

Analysts credited growing discussions by Congress to reach a possible coronavirus relief package ahead of more distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Wholesale gasoline for January delivery rose 4 cents to $1.39 a gallon. January heating oil rose 2 cents to $1.50 a gallon. January natural gas fell 4 cents to $2.64 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Thursday proved to be a good day for at least two Oklahoma energy stocks.

PHX Minerals Inc. got a 26-cent bounce to finish at $2.28 making for a nearly 13% gain for the day.

LSB Industries, Inc. ended up more than 11% with a 30 cent jump to $2.98 per share.
Otherwise, Alliance Resource Partners, L.P. ended up one cent at $5.02. Blueknight Energy Partners LP dropped a penny to $1.80. Chesapeake Energy Corporation slipped 4 cents for a 2% loss to $1.88.
Cypress Environmental Partners LP finished at $2.40 with a 5 cent increase resulting in a 2.13% gain for the day.  Devon Energy Corp saw a 19 cent jump for a 1.19% gain to $16.10. Enable Midstream Partners LP dropped 4 cents for a nearly 1% slip to $5.64.
Gulfport Energy Corporation finished with a more than 1% gain to end the day at 7 cents per share. Helmerich & Payne, Inc. jumped 50 cents a share for a 2% gain to $25.24. Laredo Petroleum Inc tacked on 14 cents for nearly a 1% gain to $20.06.
Magellan Midstream Partners, L.P. lost 27 cents to settle at $45.32. Mammoth Energy Services Inc had a nearly 6% loss on the 22 cent a share slide to $3.62. Matrix Service Co increased 11 cents to $9.54 for a more than 1% gain.
 NGL Energy Partners LP lost 8 cents for a nearly 3% drop to $2.78 per share. OGE Energy Corp. fell 45 cents or 1.41% to $31.52. ONE Gas Inc ended at $81. 40 with a $1.32 increase or nearly 2% gain.
ONEOK, Inc. ended up 8 cents at $40.73.  Ovintiv Inc saw a nearly 3% gain with a 42 cent increase to $15.06. WPX Energy Inc finished up 8 cents for a 1% gain to $8.27. Williams Companies Inc. added 5 cents to close at $21.80.
Many other energy stocks entered negative territory according to the Texas Energy Report.

Marathon Oil Corp. (MRO) down 0.06 at 6.91 – change 0.87%

National Oilwell Varco (NOV) down 0.01 at 13.93 – change 0.08%

Occidental Petroleum (OXY) down 0.27 at 19.18 – change 1.39%

Parsley Energy (PE) down 0.31 at 14.18 – change 2.14%

Phillips 66 (PSX) down 0.12 at 67.17 – change 0.18%

Pioneer Natural Resources (PXD) down 2.51 at 114.38 – change 2.15%

Valero (VLO) down 0.58 at 56.34 – change 1.02%
