Oklahoma regulators name Deputy Director of Oil and Gas Division

Pressured by a legislator and some in the industry to name a Deputy Director of the agency’s Oil and Gas Conservation Division, the Oklahoma Corporation Commission chose one this week.

The Commission, in a late Tuesday announcement, said energy industry veteran Michael McGinnis, Jr. has been named Deputy Director of the Oklahoma Corporation Commission’s Oil and Gas Conservation Division.

McGinnis was Vice President of Operations for Oklahoma City-based Kirkpatrick Oil Company before taking the state job. There, he managed all aspects of the drilling, completion and production operations of the company’s properties in Oklahoma and Texas. He spent seven years with the company.

McGinnis worked for Chesapeake Energy from 2000 to 2013 and previously with Range Resources, Union Pacific Resources, John E. Chance and Assoc. in Louisiana and Tenneco Oil Company.

McGinnis holds a B.S. in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering from Penn State University and a B.A. in Mathematics from St. Vincent College.
