A $77 million project to widen Interstate 40 from near Midwest City to Shawnee has been announced by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
As The Oklahoman reported Wednesday, the interstate will be widened to six lanes from the Oklahoma-Pottawatomie county line to U.S. 177 in Shawnee—a distance of 7.5 miles.
Work on the widening project is expected to start in 2022.
