How the natural gas industry is criticized for its fight against gas bans

 

When Oklahoma’s legislature approved a new state law in May that prevented cities and local governments from banning natural gas hookups in new buildings, it joined a list of other states doing the same thing.

The movement pushed by the natural gas industry has caught the attention of some journalists critical of the effort, those who contend the industry has “carefully cultivated the fuel’s image,” and “sought to be quoted in important stories in news outlets.”

The Guardian is one of those journalistic groups and carried a recent story about the effort and its impact on cities that are anti-gas.
