Northwest Oklahoma gets another oil well

While most completion reports filed these days with the Oklahoma Corporation Commission deal with “corrections” and “amendments” to existing wells, at least one new report was filed this week for a northwest Oklahoma well.

Bce-Mach LLC filed a report on the Bates 12-27-17 1h well located at 12 27N 17W in Woods County. Located northeast of the town of Freedom, the well had production of 121 barrels of oil a day and 408 Mcf of natural gas.

It had a March 2020 spud date and drilling finished later in the month. Completion was made June 5, 2020 at a depth of 10,745 feet in the Mississippi Lime formation.

Many completion reports filed in recent weeks are “amended” and show updated information about perforations, etc. As one observer reflected, the oil companies have to do something to keep employees busy. And what better time to go back and clean up old records than during a pandemic when well-drilling is down to minimal numbers in the state.
