Hertz to make another round of layoffs in OKC pushing total to nearly 500

Hertz has informed Oklahoma officials that the company is planning another round of layoffs in Oklahoma City stating they are directly related to the COVID-19 public health crisis.

In a WARN notice filed with the Oklahoma Office of Workforce Development, a vice president with Hertz said the layoffs of 19 more company employees will begin August 10, 2020. The layoffs will bring the total number of workers who have either lost their jobs in Oklahoma City or will lose them to 491.

“Unfortunately, due to the ongoing crisis and its continuing devastating impact on the rental car industry, it has become
necessary to conduct another round of layoffs,” wrote the company spokesman.

The layoffs will occur at the Hertz offices located at 14505 Hertz Quail Springs Parkway.

“The mass layoff is scheduled to commence on August 10, 2020, and affected non-union employees are scheduled to be permanently laid off,” stated the notification. “All affected employees have also been individually notified of their scheduled layoff dates. Notice has also been sent to the appropriate local elected official.”
