No letup in big oil discoveries by Ovintiv Mid-Continent

Tulsa’s Ovintiv Mid-Continent Inc. continues with the big finds in Oklahoma, this time reporting a four-well pad in Stephens County that produced more than 2,200 barrels of oil a day. It is the firm’s latest discoveries made immediately prior to the start of the Coronavirus pandemic that shut down a large segment of the world’s transportation consumption of fuel.

The SCOOP project was at 24 2N 4W or a site several miles west of the Elmore City where the four Mary J 2-4 wells were drilled in September 2019.

The largest well produced 655 barrels of oil a day and 3,963 Mcf of natural gas when it was completed in January 2020 at a depth of 20,929 feet in the Woodford formation.

A second well had production of 603 barrels of oil a day and 2,763 Mcf of natural gas when completed at 21,853 feet. It too had a September 2019 spud date and completion was made January 18, 2020.

A third well had production of 550 barrels of oil a day and 2,364 Mcf of natural gas from a depth of 21,586 feet according to its completion report. A fourth well had production of 403 barrels of oil a day and 2,326 Mcf of gas from a depth of 21,561 feet.

Fourpoint Energy LLC of Elk City filed reports on four Ellis County wells.

Two were drilled on a single pad at 25 20N 24W which is northeast of Arnett and had production of 187 barrels of oil a day and 564 Mcf of natural gas and 195 barrels of oil a day and 578 Mcf of natural gas.

Two others were drilled on a single pad at 13 18N 25 southwest of Arnett and had production of 346 and 444 barrels of oil a day along with 1,088 and 775 Mcf of natural gas.
