Fire danger conditions improve in Oklahoma

Wildfire conditions improved this week after last week’s disastrous fires in northwest Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Forestry Department anticipates wetter conditions as rain is in the forecast for later in the week. The department’s latest Burn Index map shows only a few areas of the state where there might be some concerns about the potential for fires.

The latest U.S. Drought Monitor shows some moderate drought to abnormally dry conditions in southwestern Oklahoma and the Panhandle.
