Shortage of ocean-traveling oil tankers

So much oil is coming out of Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and other states that oil tankers in the Atlantic are making empty trips to the U.S. to carry the oil to the rest of the world.

It’s a complete opposite of what the cargo ships have done in the past.  They would normally carry oil to the U.S. but America’s oil boom has reversed the trend. It also reflects a shortage of tankers to move the U.S. crude oil.
