US Cellular says it invested $20 million in Oklahoma last year

U.S. Cellular, considered to be the 5th largest full-service cellular company in the nation says it made more than $20 million in investments in Oklahoma in 2018.

The total was $20.2 million and $18 million went toward enhancements to the company’s high-speed voice and data network according to an announcement.

Additionally, the tech products in U.S. Cellular stores have vastly evolved and expanded over the past few years, so in an effort to create the best shopping experience for customers, the company invested more than $2.1 million to open, redesign, update or relocate 15 retail stores in Oklahoma in 2018.

In addition to smartphones and tablets, consumers and businesses can purchase smart home products from Google and Amazon, smart watches from Apple and Samsung, wireless audio from Beats and JBL, and hundreds of other consumer electronics in statewide U.S. Cellular locations.

“In today’s competitive wireless industry, we know that investing in our customers’ experience is the most important thing we can do,” said Jeff Heeley, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Oklahoma. “Every interaction a customer has with us needs to be consistent and transparent, and every time they want to use their phone, it needs to work. And as trusted community partners, we are also investing our time and money to support STEM education for youth in our communities to help inspire our future workforce.”

For the fourth consecutive year, U.S. Cellular supported STEM-focused youth education through a $1 million donation to Boys & Girls Clubs of America, with $45,000 going directly to Oklahoma County and Tulsa Clubs. In addition, Oklahoma U.S. Cellular associates spent more than 3,300 hours volunteering their time with Boys & Girls Clubs and a variety of other nonprofits throughout the year.
