Mulready prepares to take over as new Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner

Insurance Commissioner-elect Glen Mulready has tapped Oklahoma native and longtime conservative adviser Tyler Laughlin to lead his transition efforts. Laughlin, currently a deputy commissioner for the Oklahoma Insurance Department, was also part of the transition team for former Attorney General Scott Pruitt.

In addition to leading the transition, Mulready announced Laughlin will serve as chief of staff and first deputy insurance commissioner.

“Tyler Laughlin has built a level of trust and respect with state and national leaders on both sides of the aisle,” said Mulready. “He’s been a steady hand for leaders I respect and trust. Further, I am confident that we will be able to build on the many successes of Commissioner Doak while also forging our own path of consumer protections, greater market competition and increased insurance options. His experience will be extremely valuable as I assemble my team.”

“I am excited and ready to take on this new role,” stated Laughlin. “I have seen firsthand Commissioner-elect Mulready’s commitment to Oklahoma insurance consumers. I know I can help lead a smooth transition, providing certainty and continuity for Oklahomans and those involved in the insurance industry.”

Commissioner-elect Mulready will join fellow statewide elected officials and be sworn in as the 13th insurance commissioner of Oklahoma on Jan. 14, 2019.
