State’s latest earthquakes hit Tuesday and Wednesday

 

Yup!  Another earthquake in northern Oklahoma. Not one but two more.

A 3.1 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 5:24 a.m. on Wednesday. The U.S. Geological Survey put the epicenter near the community of Hibsaw which is about 16 miles northeast of Luther. Its depth was at 3 miles.

A 2.9 magnitude quake was recorded around 5:30 Tuesday evening near Medford, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Precisely, it was 5:32 p.m. and the epicenter was 3 miles north of Medford which puts it about 32 miles northeast of Enid and 35 miles west of Ponca City.

It is the same geographic region where there have been numerous smaller earthquakes over the past few weeks, ranging from just east of Enid near the small town of Chester to near Perry. Others have been recorded across the state line in southern Kansas.
