Oil drilling in STACK shows no letup

The latest release of permits to drill in Oklahoma shows more interest in Blaine County where 8 permits were issued on Tuesday by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission. Blaine county is one of the three primary counties that make up Oklahoma’s STACK play.

Five went to Newfield Exploration Mid-Con Inc. while three were given to Continental Resources of Oklahoma City.  Newfield is interested in pursing sites approximately 10 miles east of Watonga and a few miles north of state highway 3, which puts it a few miles from the Omega community.

Continental is more interested in its hot area of play west of Greenfield where it has seen success. It’s requested permits to site in an area 5 miles west of the small Blaine County community.

Elsewhere, Devon Energy plans to drill two more wells in Canadian County. FourPoint Energy was handed two permits to drill in Ellis County.

Roan Resources is pushing ahead after finding success in Grady County and received four permits to drill.

Calyx Energy based in Tulsa obtained 3 permits to drill in McIntosh County.
