Corporation Commissioner Bob Anthony wins the GOP nomination—-prepares for general election campaign

Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner Bob Anthony, seeking his 6th term since taking office in 1989 won the Republican nomination in Tuesday’s run-off elections across the state.

Anthony beat former state senate president pro tempore Brian Bingman with a 53.61% to 46.39% margin. Anthony received 155,930 votes while Bingman got 134,926.

The total votes in the GOP runoff was 290,856 votes, according to the State Election Board.

It sets the stage for Anthony to defend his incumbency against Democrat Ashley Nicole McCray, the Native American and environmental activist who won the Democratic nomination on Tuesday

McCray received 65.08% or 87,704 votes, defeating Blake Cummings. He received 34.92% or 47,059. It resulted in a total of 134,763 votes in the Democratic race.
