Energy savings contract for federal buildings

A Maryland company has just won a more than $2 million contract to make energy upgrades to federal buildings in Fort Worth, Texas.

Green Generation Solutions LLC will install 16,000 solid state LED technology lamps and fixtures at three buildings maintained by the General Services Administration Region 7. The company contends the lighting improvements in the Lanham building, a federal parking garage and the Mahon Courthouse will cut electricity consumption by 35 percent.

The lighting improvements are expected to save more than $165,000 a year while heating and air conditioning improvements will generate $33,000 in electrical and natural gas savings in the first year.

The GSA will guarantee, under the contract that the minimum first year savings will be more than $190,000 and provide $3.2 million in savings over the course of the 13-year contract.
