West Texas shaken by small earthquake

West Texas is the latest where a small earthquake was recorded by the U.S. Geological Survey.

The USGS says a quake measuring 2.7 magnitude hit around 12:50 in the morning on Thursday.

The epicenter was only 2 miles from Pecos, Texas and 7 miles from Barstow.

It was fairly close to the surface as the depth was only 2 kilometers or about 1.2 miles.

Pecos sits along I-20 and is just north of Balmorhea where there has been earthquake activity in the past year. Some blame the oil exploration in the area for inducing the quakes.
