Nearly 2,100 oil and gas rigs reported worldwide

 

The latest figures show a drop in international rig activity, according to a report from Baker Hughes.

The count for May 2018 was 967, a drop of 11 from the 978 reported in April.  But it is up 10 from the 957 reported in May of 2017.

The international offshore rig count increased by 4, reaching 198 in May.  But it was lower from the 202 reported in May of a year ago.

At the same time, the average U.S. rig count for May was 1,046, an increase of 35 from the 1,011 reported in April and up 153 from May of last year.

Worldwide including offshore and those in the U.S. the total rig count for May was 2,096, up 9 from the 2,087 reported in April and up 161 from the count in May of 2017.
