Devon Energy leaders hoping for more “monster” wells in the Delaware

Monster wells in Oklahoma’s STACK have had production of nearly 3,000 to 4,000 barrels of oil a day, but Oklahoma City’s Devon Energy is dealing with “real” monster wells producing more than 12,000 barrels of oil a day in the Delaware Basin in Texas.

And the company believes it has more of the wells in the works. We’ll learn in the next earnings call from the company. But in early May, Devon reported its Boundary Raider 6-7 Com 212H had production of 12,868 boe/d and 82% of it was oil.

Its 213H had a first 24-hour initial production of 11,149 boe/d with 76% oil.

More than a month ago, John Raines, vice president of Devon’s Delaware Basin business unit described them as the “two best wells in the Delaware Basin’s history on a 24-hour IP and certainly the two best onshore wells.”

He said they were child wells coming from a parent well that had been drilled earlier. The parent well was the Boundary Raider 6 Federal 2H which averaged 1,150 boe/d in its first 30 days of production.
