Roundup Ruling to Affect Oklahoma Lawsuits

A ruling by a California appeals court against Monsanto is likely to have an impact on lawsuits brought by a handful of Oklahomans who filed suit claiming the company’s product Roundup caused their cancer.

The California court refused to revive Monsanto’s lawsuit which had been filed after the state’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment included the herbicide glyphosate on a list of carcinogens. Glylphosate is an ingredient of the company’s Roundup weed killling products.

As OK Energy Today reported in 2017, lawsuits had been filed in Oklahoma City federal court against Monsanto, blaming the company’s Roundup weed killer for causing cancer among some of the plaintiffs.

Two of those lawsuits have since been closed in Oklahoma City after they were transferred to the Northern District of California where they are now being heard.
