Oklahoma’s STACK oil play has been the focus of much attention in the state but now it’s under the focus of at least one national news group.
Reuters calls it “a little-known shale oil play” despite the fact the three counties that make up the STACK know very well what it means to them.
Reuters said the play has even come into competition with the Permian Basin, the king of oil and gas operations in the U.S.
As the news wire service indicated, the government predicts more production from the STACK.
“The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) projects production from the Anadarko Basin, of which the STACK region is a part, to reach 493,000 bpd in April, still dwarfed by the more than 3 million barrels flooding out of the Permian basin daily.”
Reuters also indicated that EIA data shows new well production per rig in the 3-county basin is already up 8.6 percent since August 2017 compared with a 6 percent increase in the Permian.
