AAA: $2.25 Oklahoma Gas Average Well Below National Average of $2.50 a Gallon

Gasoline prices now average $2.25 a gallon in Oklahoma, the third lowest state in the nation according to new figures from AAA.

Prices have been increasing since before the holidays, yet several southern states rank among the cheapest in the country offering gas under $2.50 a gallon.

Missouri offers the least expensive gas in the nation at $2.23 a gallon followed by Arkansas at $2.24 a gallon.

The national average is $2.49 a gallon. Motorists can find gasoline for $2.50 or less at 64 percent of gas stations nationwide. Many motorists across the country are seeing more expensive gas prices while a few select states have dipped as much as a dime.

“On average, gas prices are 12 cents more expensive than a year ago,” said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson. “However, on the week consumer demand for gasoline decreased. If this continues, gas prices will decrease in the weeks ahead.”

GasBuddy.com reveals the lowest price for gasoline in the Oklahoma City market is $1.97 a gallon at the Convenience J located at 4844 Northwest 23rd Street with CM Food Mart offering gasoline at a rate of $1.99 a gallon at 6201 Northwest 10th Street. In the Tulsa metro area, a visit to one of the three Sam’s Club locations is in order, where gas is $2.04 a gallon. The Costco location at 10220 South Memorial Drive offers the same price for Tulsa motorists.
