The Nebraska regulators who approved a construction permit for the Keystone XL pipeline are now being asked to reconsider their decision of last week. The requests come from landowners and from the pipeline developer, TransCanada.
TransCanada indicated its request of the Nebraska Public Service Commission is not about changing the route but to “address some questions” raised by the approval of the “alternative mainline route” according to the Omaha World-Herald.
“(This) is not an attempt by TransCanada to have the PSC alter its approval of the alternative mainline route,” said company spokesman Terry Cunha. “As we outlined (last week), we continue to review the decision and its impact on the cost and schedule on the project.”
The landowners fighting the pipeline want the approval reconsidered as well. Attorney Brian Jorde of Omaha says his motion is to clarify that the Commission rejected the only route under consideration.
He contends the commission was only evaluating one thing.
“Then surprise, here comes something out of left field,” he told the World-Herald. He is seeking oral arguments so the landowners can also respond to TransCanada’s request to amend its application.
