Guthrie Legislator Blasts State Leaders for Anti-Business Move

Guthrie Rep. Jason Murphey calls it “just one more example of another anti-business policy by Oklahoma’s money-grabbing politicians.”

Writing for The McCarville Report, the Republican legislator refers to the removal of the state compensation to businesses for the collection of sales taxes.

He blames politicians “who are far removed from reality and the real world consequences that are haunting their bad decisions.”

He calls it a futile move by the state because many businesses will no longer collect sales taxes for the state government. The Guthrie legislator called a “fiscally foolish decision by the governor and this year’s state legislature.”

Rep. Murphey cites the case of at least one business owner who won’t spend the time collecting the tax. He said it’s clear that state leaders failed to take into account how business owners see this “as the last straw” and will simply stop collecting taxes for the state.
