Dow Chemical Finishes New Plastics Plant Along Gulf Coast

It was in the 1967 movie “The Graduate” when Mr. McGuire told Ben (Dustin Hoffman), “Plastics—-there’s a great future in plastics, Think about it. Will you think about it?”

Executives at Dow Chemical apparently took the advice. Construction’s wrapped up on a new Dow Chemical plastics plant south of Houston.

The Company announced this week it’s finalizing its overall expansion effort and the new polyethylene plant will be able to manufacture 400,000 metric tons of plastic a year.

The plant is part of Dow’s more than $6 billion expansion along the Gulf Coast at its huge Freeport campus.
