Corporation Commission Votes to Order Refund for OGE Customers

Customers of Oklahoma Gas and Electric are due a refund in the coming weeks or months, depending on how quickly the utility acts after the Oklahoma Corporation Commission voted this week to bring an abrupt halt to a nearly $90 million interim rate charge.

Commissioners Bob Anthony and Dana Murphy voted to allow only a $8.8 million rate increase for OGE as requested but the same vote also stopped dead in its tracks, the higher interim rates that had been charged since July 2016.

The utility was still studying the order this week and could not figure the average refund, according to The Oklahoman.

The corporation commission decision wasn’t well received by the utility, but Attorney General Mike Hunter liked the move.  He issued a statement after the vote.

“In denying the OGE request of over $90 million in increased rates, the commission has acted in the best interests of OGE ratepayers.”
