Bridenstine Calls for Changes to Current U.S. Aerospace Program

U.S. Representative Jim Bridenstine spoke up last week, calling for an increase in spending on military and commercial space programs, according to a report by The Tulsa World.

“It’s truly disgraceful when U.S. companies, and U.S. astronauts, must hitch a ride on Russian rockets only to see Moscow use the fare to fund its military space programs,” commented Bridenstine, in a recent House subcommittee meeting.

Bridenstine – Oklahoma’s congressman from the First District — is a longtime proponent of expanding the space industry. Bridenstine utilizes his Naval aviation background and prior experience as Executive Director of the Tulsa Air and Space Museum & Planetarium to develop his positions on the aerospace industry. It doesn’t hurt that Bridenstine is a triple major from Rice University and holds an MBA from Cornell University.

Elected in 2012 and currently serving on both the House Armed Services and House Science, Space and Technology Committees, Bridenstine is considered a frontrunner for the NASA directorship post in the Trump Administration. He is not seeking re-election for his Oklahoma congressional seat.

“Our current space systems are stovepiped, vulnerable, and expensive,” said Bridenstine. “Our next-generation space systems must be integrated, resilient and affordable.”
