Ponca City has taken over the top place for the most expensive gasoline in the State with a new average of $2.16 a gallon, a penny higher than what motorists in Stillwater are paying.

AAA Oklahoma reports this week’s statewide average is $2.05, four cents cheaper than the October high of $2.08 recorded Oct. 8. It’s also the lowest statewide average since Sept.28.

The cheapest gasoline in Oklahoma is found in Bartlesville where the average is $1.94, a drop of 7 cents over the past week. Four other cities have averages less than $2—Idabel, Enid, Lawton and Muskogee.

“Drivers in Oklahoma continue to enjoy some of the cheapest gas prices in the country,” said Chuck Mai, a spokesman for AAA Oklahoma. “Only Texas and New Jersey have lower statewide gasoline price averages than Oklahoma today. They’re both at $2.02.”

The national average is at $2.24, two cents cheaper than a week ago. The organization reports volatility in the Midwest has put four states in the region at the top of the list for biggest weekly declines. Indian is down 14 cents while Ohio has dropped 12 cents, Michigan a dime and Illinois is 8 cents cheaper.
