Rep. Mullin Named to Conference Committee on Energy

Oklahoma Congressman Markwayne Mullin is among those named by the U.S. House of Representatives to be on a conference committee with the U.S. Senate in developing the first comprehensive energy package in nearly ten years.

The Republican Representative was named by House Speaker Paul Ryan of Wisconsin and House Energy and Commerce Committee chairman Fred Upton of Michigan. Rep. Mullin was among a dozen additional Energy and Commerce Committee Republican members to help lead House negotiators in finalizing a compromise comprehensive energy bill with the Senate.

“The script has been flipped on our energy abundance and it’s about time our policies caught up,” said Rep. Upton. “This effort is about jobs. It’s about keeping energy affordable. It’s about boosting our energy security, here and across the globe.”

Included in the House amendment to the Senate 2012 bill were several committee provisions that have already passed the House.

Joining Rep. Mullin in the conference committee are: Energy and Power subcommittee chairman Ed Whitfield; Environment and Economy Subcommittee chairman John Shimkus; and Representatives Joe Barton, Bob Latta, Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Pete Olson, David McKinley, Mike Pompeo, Morgan Griffith, Bill Johnson, and Bill Flores.markwaynemullin
