A subcommittee of the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee will take testimony Tuesday from Oklahoma Farm Bureau President Tom Buchanan and others as it explores the impact of new rules from the Environmental Protection Agency.
Buchanan will testify before the Subcommittee on Superfund, Waste Management and Regulatory Oversight. The subcommittee is chaired by South Dakota Republican Senator Mike Rounds and the hearing is entitled, “American Small Business’s Perspectives on Environmental Protection Agency Regulatory Actions.” The hearing will focus on how regulations promulgated by the EPA affect small businesses in the U.S.
“EPA’s burdensome regulations have drastically affected many Oklahoma farmers and ranchers,” said Buchanan. “Our country’s decision makers must understand the impact of these regulations on agriculture in Oklahoma and across the nation.”
Others who will testify are Michael Canty, President and CEO of Alloy Bellows and Precision Welding, Inc.; Thomas Sullivan, of counsel with Nelson,Mullins, Riley and Scarborough law firm; Frank Knapp Jr., President and CEO of the South Carolina Small Business Chamber of Commerce; and Dr. Emily Reichert, CEO of Greentown Labs.
The hearing will bgin at 1:30 p.m. Oklahoma time.
