High Pressure Gas Line Blast Kills Two Workers in South Texas

Authorities are investigating more details of the Tuesday pipeline explosion in South Texas that left two workers dead and another injured. It happened near the small town of Woodsboro, northeast of Corpus Christi and west of the popular Port Aransas Gulf area of Texas.

The men were repairing a hole in a gas pipeline at a Southcross Energy Partners plant when a piece of the line came loose, releasing 800 pounds of pressure.

The blast instantly killed one worker while another died at a nearby hospital. The third was treated for injuries.

Southcross is a Dallas based company and a spokesman blamed the accident on a piece of equipment used by the contract workers, indicating it apparently failed.
