Energy Measures Win Support in U.S. House

Four energy-related measures won the support of Oklahoma’s congressmen in the U.S. House this week including one bill promoting more development of nuclear energy.

H.R. 4084, known as the Nuclear Energy Innovation Capabilities Act targets national efforts to enable civilian research and development of advance nuclear energy technologies by private and public institutions.

H.R. 4238 amended certain items related to minorities used in existing energy legislation. The EPS Improvement Act, also known as H.R. 4444 exempts certain lighting technologies from the U.S. Department of Energy efficiency standards. The measure excludes power supply circuits, drivers and devices designed to be connect to and power light-emitting diodes or organic light-emitting diodes.

H.R. 4583 focuses on increasing the number of skilled workers trained to work in energy and manufacturing-related fields. It encourages State education agencies to equip students with the skills, mentorships, training and technical expertise and to work with representatives from the energy and manufacturing industries including oil, gas, coal and nuclear.
