Contractors PAC Reaches Ethics Commission Agreement

The Oklahoma Ethics Commission  says it has reached a settlement agreement with the Associated General Contractors Oklahoma PAC after the PAC self-reported violations of state laws.

The Commission voted recently to approve the agreement after the PAC admited it deposited more than $12,000 of contributions into the wrong account. The PAC also admitted to receiving $3,200 in execessive cash contributions as well asa more than $9,000 in corporate contributions and failed to deposit $3,650 in contributions within 10 days of receipt.

The Commission and the PAC agreed to a $9,000 payment to the general fund within 30 days. The PAC will pay $2,000 to the Commmission  to settle the compliance orders and $1,000 for attorneys fees and costs.

The Associated General Contractors of Olahoma-Building Chapter also agreed not to form a new affiliated PAC for 6 months. PAC officers also have to undergo an Ethics Commission educational program.

“This agreement is a result of the PAC volulntarily comming into compliance with the Ethics Rules and offering the commission a resaonble settlement agreement to consider during its meeting,” stated Ashley Kemp, Executive Director of the Commission.

“The actions of the PAC in self-reporting these acts and being proactive in remedying these acts saved the Commission significant time and resources that would otherwise have been used in an investigation and enforcement.  Voluntary compliance, over enforcement, remains the goal of the Commission in fulfilling the responsibilities vested in it by citizens of Oklahoma.”
