Ruling Expected Soon in Williams and ETE Fight

A Delaware judge overseeing the legal fight between Williams Cos. of Tulsa and Energy Transfer Equity promises to have a ruling by Friday. The commitment came earlier this week from Judge Sam Glascock who’s been hearing arguments in the conflicts between the two companies that proposed a $38 billion merger last fall.

The suit was filed by Williams in a fight over tax issues, and accused Dallas-based ETE of violating the merger agreement. Williams alleged ETE did it “through a pattern of delay and obstruction designed to allow ETE to avoid its contractual commitments.”

The suit resulted in a counter-suit filed by ETE claiming that Williams violated the merger agreement.

The judge’s ruling will come before a Monday shareholders meeting and vote at Williams.
